PROGRAM INTENT
IIDA Mid-Atlantic Chapter Premiere Design Awards aims to recognize design excellence, encourage new ideas and techniques, and build public awareness in the field of interior design. IIDA MAC is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the knowledge of interior design among professionals, as well as the awareness and appreciation of interior design among the general public. IIDA MAC serves the District of Columbia, the state of Maryland, and northern Virginia.


ELIGIBILITY
The IIDA MAC Premiere Design Awards is open to design firms of all sizes, focus, and interest practicing in the IIDA Mid-Atlantic region. If a design firm has multiple office locations, the project team responsible for the design must work out of an office located within the Mid-Atlantic Chapter region. The Mid-Atlantic chapter region consists of* the District of Columbia, the State of Maryland, the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church in Virginia, and the following counties in Virginia: Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William. Submissions are open to both IIDA members and non-members.

AWARD CATEGORIES
Design Project Awards
Winners to be selected in each category with an opportunity to also win the event's  "best overall" Pinnacle Award or Achievement Awards. Special Recognition awards may be given as a "runner up" in any of the 13 Design Project award categories as well. 

  • Corporate: 20,000 SF and under
  • Corporate: 20,001-45,000 SF
  • Corporate: 45,001-75,000 SF
  • Corporate: Over 75,000 SF
  • Education: K-12
  • Education: Higher Education
  • Public Sector / Government
  • Non-profit / Association
  • Healthcare
  • Hospitality 
  • Multi-Family
  • On the boards (recognizing the design process for built or conceptual projects)

Achievement Awards
Three Achievement awards will be given based on the specific topics below. These awards will be an additional checkbox and description during the entry process that is added on to an existing Design Project entry only. Winners of these Achievement categories may also win a Design Project award. 

  • Design With Purpose

This award highlights a project with a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) advancement. This project should be focused on contributing to a greater purpose, whether it's through reduction of environmental impacts, cultivating social responsibility, or operating with strong governance.

  • DEI Advancement 

This award goes to a project or design firm that shows exemplary leadership and commitment to advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through interior design.

  • Technology Advancement

This award recognizes a project that leverages technology in an unprecedented way, deepening our understanding of the impact technology can bring to the built environment.

Champion Awards (Individuals)
Distinction awards are intended to recognize a Designer, Industry Member, and Emerging Leader in the Mid-Atlantic region who demonstrates a commitment to excellence and advancing the profession and surrounding professions of interior design. Nominee must be an IIDA MAC member and cannot be a current IIDA MAC board member.

  • Emerging Leader (must be a graduate or current participant of IIDA MAC PLAID program)

    Student Design Project Award
    IIDA MAC developed the student awards program to recognize design excellence at the student level and encourage new ideas and techniques to strengthen the network between the Mid-Atlantic region's interior design education programs and the chapter's design professionals and industry.

    ENTRY FEES
    IIDA Member Design Project Submission: $200 per entry ($175 for early bird submission by Tuesday, January 31, 2023  |  11:59pm EST)
    Non-IIDA Member Design Project Submission: $300 per project ($275 for early bird submission by Tuesday, January 31, 2023  |  11:59pm EST)
    Design with Purpose, DEI & Technology Advancement: No Additional cost beyond project category submission
    Champion Nomination: No cost
